Sebago Technics was founded by Walter P. Stinson, P.E., in 1981.  He began with a commitment to serve customers with integrity, respect and responsive service. To that end, Sebago Technics provides engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture and environmental services to companies, developers, landowners and the public sector for customers and projects, both large and small. Beginning in 1800, White-Williams Scholars provided low-income students with the financial resources needed to support their academic goals in high school. Since 1989, Philadelphia Futures has helped low-income students succeed in high school and obtain a college degree. In 2011, the organizations merged with the intention of utilizing and maximizing shared resources in the pursuit of a common purpose: to provide high-potential, economically disadvantaged Philadelphia students with life-changing programs and resources as they make their way to and through college.

Legal Services NYC (LSNYC)

Legal Services NYC was founded in 1968 as part of the War on Poverty. What started as a loose confederation of neighborhood-based legal services programs has grown into the nation’s largest civil legal services provider. Our citywide force of over 500 staff helps more than 110,000 low-income New Yorkers annually.

Maternity Care Coalition

Since 1980, Maternity Care Coalition has assisted more than 135,000 families throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania, focusing particularly on neighborhoods with high rates of poverty, infant mortality, health disparities, and changing immigration patterns. We know a family’s needs change as they go through the pregnancy and their child’s first years and we offer a range of services and programs for every step along the way.

The Philadelphia Foundation has been committed to improving the quality of life in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties since 1918.

Need in Deed

Since its founding in 1987, Need in Deed’s mission has been to use the classroom to prepare young people for civic responsibility and service to others, enabling them to become capable, contributing members of society. Started in 1951 by Henry Carris with just two employees, today Carris includes eight divisions nationwide, including two permanent assembly/warehouse sites and eight temporary facilities.

Harpoon Brewery

Harpoon was started in 1986 by Dan Kenary, Rich Doyle, and George Ligeti. They were three friends who loved beer and loved drinking beer together but found the beer choices at the time to be limited. Traveling through Europe and experiencing the rich traditions of European brewing and beer drinking enhanced their love of beer and opened their eyes to the rich beer culture they wanted back home. They decided to build a brewery so that they could brew the beers that they wanted to drink, and invite their friends to the brewery to drink it with them.

Gearing Up

Gearing Up provides women in transition from abuse, addiction, and/or incarceration with the skills, equipment, and guidance to safely ride a bicycle for exercise, transportation, and personal growth. The term “women in transition” refers to women who have been formerly incarcerated, have histories of abuse and trauma as kids and/or as adults, have used drugs and/or alcohol as a way to cope with painful experiences and are learning how to live a crime-free sober life with purpose and meaning.

Cooperative Home Care Associates

(CHCA) is a nationally recognized, worker-owned home care agency in the Bronx. CHCA was founded in 1985 to provide quality home care to clients by providing quality jobs for direct-care workers.

CHCA started with 12 home health aides. The cooperative now employs more than 2,000 staff. Together with PHI, a nonprofit founded by CHCA in 1992, CHCA maintains an employer-based workforce development program that provides free training for 600 low-income and unemployed women annually and serves as a significant driver of employment in the Bronx.

PC Construction

In order to educate its employees about the value and significance of their ESOP plan, PC Construction hired Praxis to train and support a group of trainers to deliver ESOP educational presentations. PC Construction employs a large Hispanic workforce, so the company provided a Spanish version of the presentation and included five bilingual speakers in the training. Praxis facilitated the ESOP education and presentation skills training, with some parts of the training and coaching conducted in Spanish.

Crucible Industries, LLC

In order to address the concerns about the new company’s culture, Mike Shay of Praxis and Dennis Lasker of the Sigma Group partnered with four CIL high potential mid-managers to conduct a Rapid Business Assessment (RBA) consisting of one-on-one interviews, small focus groups, and direct observations over the course of three intense days and two nights.
