Inside the BL Companies ESOP Committee

By Linshuang Lu

Learning about other companies’ experiences can be an effective way to gain valuable ideas and guidance on setting up a new communications committee, or to revive an existing one. This chapter illustrates how different companies have approached their employee committees. The primary case study covers the beginning and development of an effective ESOP communications committee at BL Companies. This chapter also draws on examples from two other companies, Forsythe Technology and Gardener’s Supply, to provide alternative ideas on how different employee committees operate. Each company needs to determine what will work best based on the company’s unique characteristics and ownership objectives.
